2024 was an absolutely killer year for heavy metal, and while there were many great new EP's released, we're going to break this down to the Sin and Steel top 5!
If you'd prefer to watch the full episode, this can be found on the Sin and Steel YouTube channel, or at the bottom of this article.

Number 5: Ghoul - Noxious Concoctions
This is some death/thrash from the US. It's not anything crazily innovative, doesn't deviate much from what they're already known for, and if I'm honest, has some somewhat rough production... but that's kind of the point for this.
With their own label of 'Splatterthrash' it's dirty, punk influenced, death laden thrash metal, filled with cheesy horror, nonsense and humour, that's perfect for mosh pits and mayhem.

Number 4: Ancient Guard - Nightfall Enthroned
This is atmospheric black metal from Australia, brought to us by Nightwolf, also known for their work as Runespell.
This debut goes back to the black metal basics, delivering a very open sound, with a great dose of gloominess, and was quickly followed with a full-length release if you'd like to check out more of their work.

Number 3: In Victory - Ignited
This is uplifting, very well composed and well executed power metal, from Spain, led by composer Victor Angulo.
It's fun and powerful, with some beautifully done production and I truly believe this one was heavily underrated, or slept on in 2024, and needs to be given a lot more love.

Number 2: Munitions - Remote Death
This is death metal from Australia, and a band I've talked about a lot on the show, because I've been drawn to what they're doing from the get-go.
With this new EP, they've absolutely raised the bar. It's really well mixed, chunky as hell, and quick to induce stank face.

Number 1: Khazurvaal - Unyielding Shadows
This is the debut black metal project of Australian, Steve O'Brien, also known for his work in Aeons Abyss and The Metal Podcast.
It's an Ode to 80's black metal, being brought forth from the darkness and exploring the forces of evil that lurk in the shadows, in a very interesting and unique way.
